Tom was born in Marked Tree, Arkansas and was baptized twenty years later in 1951 in Cash, Arkansas. Tom grew up in Arkansas, and then moved to the Flint, Michigan area. Tom worked for General Motors and retired from there in 1986. He was self-employed from 1986-1991. He then became the pulpit minister for the Howell Church of Christ, a position he filled for the years 1991-1995. Tom then became self-employed again, as co-owner of an employment agency. He retired from there in February, 2001.
Tom is married to Freda, and they have four children: James, Terrie, Joseph, and Julie.
Tom lists his hobbies as golf, reading, and fishing.
His previous experience in church leadership was as a deacon for the Lennon Road Church of Christ, then as an elder for the same congregation. He was appointed as an elder for the Howell congregation in 1993.
Tom oversees the areas of Missions, Outreach & Special Events, as well as future expansion plans.
